Target Memorial Day Weekend Try On Haul

Happy Tuesday!  Emme and I did an impromptu Target Try On Haul this morning.  Mainly because it’s raining and we had an hour to kill before Max finished school!  I love shopping for Red, White, & Blue outfits for Memorial Day Weekend because you can use these outfits for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day!  It makes the most sense to buy it all now and who doesn’t love being a little patriotic?!?  For reference, I’m in a Medium in everything shown except for the chambray jumpsuit.  I’m wearing a Large.

Invitations with Basic Invite

I LOVE throwing parties and or gatherings and I also LOVE sending a proper paper invitation.  There is nothing better than getting an actual paper invite in the mail, amiiright?!?!?  Often times they have a picture of the person being celebrated or honored and then it gets hung on your fridge or wall.  I get SO many emails these days that when I get another invitation emailed to me, it often times gets thrown into the mix of spam…….Not to mention, when you spend all this money making the party so darn cute, you best make sure you have an invite to match!

Soma Intimates

I hate shopping for undergarments……even before kids. My first month of Orange Theory Fitness

I am so excited to recap my first month with OTF because it already feels like I have been there forever and am loving it!!!!  I can see where people become addicted.  I truthfully haven’t really run in years and today, a month into working out here I ran over 1 mile without walking.  If that doesn’t tell you anything I don’t know what will!  Btw, don’t let this scare you. You absolutely never have to run, there is always the option to walk!

I drove past this Orange Theory for 3 years (seriously though, it is right down the street from my house).  It opened right when we moved here, I was super excited to try it out and then just never did for various reasons.  Thank goodness I FINALLY did!!!  I actually went to my first class on Valentine’s Day!  It was just random timing of when I began.  I was obviously a little nervous to go there, I always am when starting a new fitness venture.  You just never know what to expect.  What I loved the most about Orange Theory upon walking in my first day was that they have you come in early so they can talk to you about your goals, the heart rate monitor, and what to expect during class.  I recently tried out a different studio that didn’t do this and not even joking didn’t know there was a bathroom there for at least two weeks.  So this makes you feel extra important and immediately comfortable in a new setting.

Now onto classes!  When you walk into the studio each time, you will grab either a treadmill or rower card, or you can choose floor.  These are the 3 rotations and whichever card you pick is where you will begin.  You then wait outside the studio room and approximately 2 mins before each class begins, the coach (instructor), talks to everyone before you go in together.  This is kind of a pump you up, let you know what’s happening in class today kind of talk!  Some classes concentrate more on strength, more on endurance, etc.  Did you know that no two Orange Theory classes are ever the same?!?!?  That is one of the many reasons it is SO good for your body.  You will never get used to the same workout routine and become stagnant.

Then, you just listen to the coach and keep on moving!!!  The goal is to stay in the Orange Zone, it’s where you burn the most calories and earn ALL the Splats!!

This is the scoreboard you can look at during your workout, and now it even shows on your personal treadmill!  Also, this is the report you get sent to your email upon completion!

Do you ever look at a picture and wish you did something different? I really wish I would have pretended to sit on that bike seat!  ha.  I mean wouldn’t that have been perfect?!?!  These pants literally feel like butter on….BEST workout pants EVER!!!  They don’t move when you workout and obviously have super cute prints!  I have a few pairs of the solid black.  I am wearing a Medium in all of these items.

Valentine’s Dinner with Fresh Thyme

Dusko and I love to go out for dinner. Although date nights are few and far between these days we enjoy trying new restaurants!  However, for Valentine’s Day even before having kids we actually preferred to stay in and cook together!    We have just always felt that restaurants get so busy and it’s nice to enjoy the evening at home.  So when I got to tour the new Fresh Thyme grocery store that opened in Geneva, I knew I was on the hunt for what we could have for Valentine’s Dinner!  Truthfully, there are SO many options. From their self serve salad bar, fresh made bread(which you can slice there on your own: so fun btw), the meat & fish selection, smoothie bar, the entire center of the store is produce(basically a produce museum 🍎), so many pasta options (even chickpea), their amazing wine and beer selection(don’t worry, they have my favorite Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc), and fresh flowers!!!

 

But, I stopped in my tracks because they have Fresh Made Sushi EVERYDAY!  We LOVE sushi and don’t have it very often. Also, guess what?!?  It’s half off on Thursday’s and Valentine’s Day happens to be on a Thursday. So I was dying to try it and how cool that I could tell all of you to go grab some!  Btw, it did not disappoint ❤️.

I grabbed some fresh tulips for my table, because they were only $3.99, eek!!!  Best deal in town gentlemen!

And of course a bottle of red sangria because, well duh!  It’s the holiday of hearts, red, and pink 💕💕💕💕.  Speaking of hearts, I snagged a heart shaped CHEESECAKE, Dusko died and went to heaven. It’s his favorite dessert, and I was happy it was heart shaped!  And in case you forgot to buy a gift?!?  Fresh Thyme also sells cards, so many fun skincare products, water bottles, and even some hats and or accessories.

Chocolate PB Smoothie

Just over here making smoothies!  Seriously the kids would eat smoothies every day, I’m more of a pizza girl myself 🤣🤣🤣   For real though this smoothie is delicious!  All we did was add the ingredients pictured below with ice and wa-la!

Recipe:

approx measurements for 2 smoothies

1 banana

2 tbls PB2

2 scoops Orgain Protein

2 tbls prana organic cacao

2 tbls prana chia seeds

1 cup ice

blend until desired consistency

add a cute straw and enjoy 😊!

Evereve Try-ON

Oh my gosh!!!  Have you ever gone shopping with a small child?!?!  How about two?  Haha, it’s not always easy but I do think it’s kind of fun.  Maxwell, Emerson, and I went to a few shops yesterday but spent most of our time in Evereve.  A major pro to shopping there is they give all the kiddos unlimited goldfish and water!  They also have SO many toys.  Like toys on a train/lego table in the store and each fitting room also has toys.  It’s pretty fabulous actually.  Not to mention, their saleswomen will literally bring the entire store to you if you would like.  haha. They also push you to try on things you wouldn’t always try on, but that makes it more fun.  You almost always leave with something you are in love with!

Denim Jacket

How cute is this denim jacket?!?! I am in a L, it was pretty stretchy too, which makes it extra comfy!  I also love the detail on the sleeve.  I would pair this more with some of my everyday casual looks. Would be so cute with leggings and just thrown over anything in the spring.

Jeans | Rainbow Tee

This TEE!!!  I mean, I had to have this after I tried it on.  I would consider this an investment tee if that’s actually a thing.  I am in a M.

Criss Cross Top | Cardigan | Jeans

I love this top and cardi.  Tbh, I didn’t think I was going too.  I love the fit, the colors, and the comfort!  Also, how cute is the back of this cardi?? I am in a M in both. Also, these jeans are WONDERFUL.  I am in a 31.

Stripe Sweater | Jeans

I love stripes what can I say?  This is more of a tunic, which for me personally I don’t always love because I am so short.  However, this v-neck is so comfy.  It’s a thin sweater, perfect for winter or spring!  I am in a M.

Yellow Top | Jeans I am SO excited to wear this!!!  I think it will be so cute with white shorts in the summer and white jeans when it’s cooler.  I am in a medium.

H&M Try On Session-Winter 2019

Happy 2019!!!  I mean, seriously, can you guys believe it’s 2019???  I sure can’t.  January is such a weird month, you come off of this high from the holidays and here in the midwest the weather is so blah!  Not sure about you guys but I try to fill my days with activities to keep me from feeling so meh.  The dark days can definitely get to you, ammiright?!?!  Well, we all know more activities means we need cute clothes to wear!!!  So I went to H&M the other day and did a quick try on session!  Here are a few of my favorites!!

I fell in love with this turtleneck because of the button detail.  Its super lightweight and can be worn as a layering piece or alone.  I am in a L.  It also comes in 3 colors!

Again with the turtlenecks, but I love the pearl details.  It just makes this sweater a little bit cuter than your average Turtleneck.  I am in a M.

Had to snag this Red Heart Sweater because Emme’s Birthday is February 15th!  So we love hearts around here!!!  It also comes in tan, and let’s be honest, I kind of want that one too!!!  I am in a M.

Ok, so turns out, H&M has a TON of cute Mickey stuff.  Linked it all here!!!  I am in a L.  Almost forgot to mention, they are only $12!!!!

Ok, this sweater is SO soft, and how cute is it?!?!?  Perfect for a normal day of hanging out or a night on the town.  It comes in 5 colors!  The blue is currently not available online but trust me, you will want one of them.  I am in a M.

This off the shoulder number is still available and too cute!!!  My friend Julia and I ended up wearing it the same night obviously in different colors.  I am in a M, it is currently only available in 2 colors.

Grazing Table How To

I don’t know if I’ve ever gotten as many questions about anything I’ve posted ever as I have this grazing board I made last Saturday. Other than looking pretty, it was substantial enough for 20 people to literally graze ALL night long!!! Totally worth the money and the clean up was a breeze!!! The fun thing about this is you can add whatever touches you want to make it super festive for any holiday or event!  I also need to give credit where credit is deserved, most all of my cheese Inspo came from these two Instagram Accounts:  Kate & Meg

SUPPLIES
Butcher’s Paper
Any kind of greenery(I got mine from my parents yard)!
Tape
Unscented candles or battery operated
Other garnishes(whatever season just add little fun touches)
Chocolate Santa’s
Festive gummies

FRUIT-I chose things with color to make the table prettier but also wanted them to be fruits that most people love and would actually eat.
Oranges
Pomegranates
Strawberries
Blueberries
Apples(didn’t end up using them but apples are always great with cheese).   Dried Fruit-I happened to find a holiday platter with various dried fruits.  Normally I would have bought separate bags at Trader Joe’s.  They have a large selection.

NUTS-I ended up getting all of mine from Trader Joe’s and for the size of my table got 2 of everything

CHEESE-all were from Aldis or Trader Joe’s and I also had 2 of each of these

CRACKERS-you can really grab any of your favorites.  I honestly just utilized a lot of the seasonal crackers from Aldi’s & TJ’s.

My thought process behind this table was that I was going to start with center items to anchor and then kind of mirror the table but add a couple random things so it wasn’t identical, you got me?!? Lol. My brain just thinks like this!

Also, i am no cheese or food styling expert. Just a girl that wanted to make it happen!  Here are the progression pics of the grazing table!




As you can see, with the block of cheese, I kind of just crumbled it with a cheese knife.  Meg talks a lot about this on her ig.  

Then I just started adding in the fruit(fresh & dried) and crackers.  I was fairly conscious of where I was placing certain colors.  I feel like this is what makes the grazing table pop, right?  Otherwise it could turn into a big blob of meat and cheese!    With the dummies and strawberries I anchored them to the 4 corners to kind of establish a rectangle.  


Sourcing a friend to help fold salami flowers is an excellent idea!  Thanks Cass!  It is even so fun for me to look back at the progress pics!  This table seriously only took an hour start to finish and as mentioned above, the Clean up was literally a breeze!!!
