Mother’s Day Gift Guide: Quarantine Edition

Happy Saturday!!!  Is is actually Saturday, idk, and I actually almost don’t even care.  This has all just become a big blur to me.  One of the things I’m most sad about is that I won’t be able to host my annual Mother’s Day Brunch with my mom, mother in law, and my grandmas.

But, we can all still buy practical and fun gifts to enjoy!  So I rounded up some of my favorites during quarantine.

 

Lets start with the obvious:  We all need a good coffee mug🙂

A cute wine glass for when you are enjoying that quiet relaxing bath!

Parker Thatch is one of my current favorite purses.  I love this denim crossbody and it sure would serve its purpose at the grocery store!

Our Stay at Aloft Chicago Mag Mile

We had the pleasure of staying at the Aloft Chicago Mag Mile last weekend.  This was not our first time at an Aloft, infact it was not our first time at the Aloft Chicago Mag Mile either!  We stayed here with the kids a couple of months ago and enjoyed it so much!  For starters, I have always loved the modern and trendy feel you get when you walk into an Aloft.  The Aloft Chicago Mag Mile is extra special though!  Dusko and I met in the city of Chicago.  He lived in the South Loop and I lived in Lakeview, so the Mag Mile was a central point and an area we frequented.  I know a lot of people that live in the city avoid it but we have always been drawn to it.  So the Location of the Aloft Chicago Mag Mile is AMAZING!  It is 2 blocks east of Michigan Avenue, so you basically walk out and you are there!  Not to mention the 2 short city blocks are filled with good smelling chicago things such as Garretts Popcorn!!!  If you aren’t from Chicago do yourselves a favor and grab a bag of the “Garretts Mix.”  It’s the most wonderful blend of cheese popcorn and caramel.  Infact, it actually used to be called…..the “Chicago Mix.”

The staff at the hotel was top notch, the manager Chris welcomed us with this wonderful basket of snacks and spirits:).  And can we talk about how festive and cute the hotel tree is?!?!?!

One of the most important parts of staying at any hotel is the beds!  And I must say, these are comfy:).

Breakfast at the Aloft didn’t disappoint either.  They offer, sweet, savory, and vegetarian items.  My favorite was The Ranchero.

See what I mean about the modern and trendy feel?  Yes, I won in our game of pool!!!

Did I mention there is complimentary coffee every morning?  Because that is also super important when traveling.

The last time we stayed here we also utilized the hotel pool, which is AWESOME!!  Below are a few pics of that trip because the Aloft Chicago Mag Mile is such a great place for families too!

6 Thanksgiving Day Looks

I swear I’m not a holiday skipper guys!!!  I actually REALLY love Thanksgiving.  Sometimes Dusko’s birthday even falls on Thanksgiving which makes it even more special.  But what isn’t to love about a holiday that you don’t bring gifts, you don’t have to go to church (eek), and all you are required to do is eat?!?!?!  I mean does it actually get any better than this?  I think not!

Since Thanksgiving seems to have creeped up very quickly, have you had time to think about what you are wearing?  Have no fear, myself and fellow blogger, @Meganschramblog have you covered!  You should have no problem snagging any of these looks in time for Turkey Day!!!  It’s freezing here so I wore tights with two of my looks, you could obviously go without!

Holiday 2019 Family Pictures

Ahhh, family pictures….Seriously, I am the first to admit they are kind of a dreaded task.  And I know Dusko hates doing them especially since my “job” is taking pictures ALL the time!!  lol.  So I tend to delay them until it’s really time because we all know we need a Christmas Card picture, ammiright?!?!?  We took a different approach this time and they were honestly really fun!  For starters, my cousin is our photographer.  So the kids love her and think she is funny.  This is super helpful to have someone that can get them to smile and giggle.  But it was legit freezing the day we took pics so we did hurry but also sang some of the kids favorite songs and truthfully just didn’t put pressure on them and I feel like they turned out great!  I mean, Emme’s expressions in a lot of these pics are simply priceless and quite honestly I would prefer that.  When we look back someday it will remind us more of our kids cute little personalities:).

Another thing I want to chat about it Family Picture Outfits.  I feel like often I hear people chatting about how hard it is.  DON’T OVERTHINK IT!  Pick one print or top and just base everything else around it.  If I’m being honest, I tend to pick my outfit first and go from there.  Just pull a color from that outfit and add to the rest of the group.  Imagine a pod of mannequins at a store.  They tend to coordinate, they are obviously going to the same party and or photoshoot!  I was happy to admit that the only outfit we bought was Emme’s Super cute jumpsuit!  Which we had bought prior to the Family Picture Outfit Selection.

Mama & Mini Matching Jean Jackets

Happy FRIDAY Friends!!!

OMG, this was probably the easiest project I have ever done!  In a nutshell, I stumbled upon a super similar Mama & Mini Jacket Duo.  I had so many thoughts going through my head:  Just buy it, you guys don’t need these, omg they are SO cute, we need these, just order them, Dusko will kill you if you buy something else, lololol.  All the thoughts ladies!  So I immediately messaged my friend, IVY from IvyPinkMade (go follow her, she is AMAZING)!!!!  I knew she would be able to find similar patches for me, and guess what?!?!  She did!!!

So all I did was order the patches, wait for them, Iron them on, and ta-da!!!  Oh yea, I did decide to take them to a local embroidery shop because I was nervous the stars would fall off.  And even though they did not cost a lot at all(under $5), I like them and want to be able to wear them!

Matching Swim for the Family

One of my favorite mom things to do is match with the kiddos so I was especially excited to partner with Yaffi Fashion!  It was an easy decision to pick the Watermelon print because Emme has been loving it and also calling it Wa Wa Melon 🍉 !  Yaffi Fashion is pretty great because they also have mens and boys matching swim.  So Max was especially excited to get to match with us this time.  For reference, I ordered up one size for each of us and the fit is great!  We also wore these suits swimming in the lake all day and they held up wonderfully!

If you know me, you know I LOVE me some active/Athleisure!  Let’s be real, we are living in a leggings world and she’s not retiring any time soon!  So I’m always on the hunt to find my favorite items.  Whether they are for actually working out, just running some errands, or looking cute! Happy Birthday to Me!!!

 

I have always been one to love celebrating my birthday, I know some people hate getting older. I for one, think life truly gets better and better with age!  Plus, I like a good party!  However, I will admit saying I’m 38, 3-8, sounds really Freaking old!!!  I’m closer to 40 than 30, and can hardly wear heels anymore 🤣. But, You are only as old as you make yourself and I feel more like 25 so whatever 🤣🤣🤣.

It’s so crazy how quickly a year goes by and how much can change. Last year I was starting a new job(working part time from home), and here I am a year later,  I just left my job and am SO excited to spend the summer with my kiddos!  I am constantly reminded how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken. Trying to soak up every second of it!

A special thanks to Patricia Anderson Photography for these AMAZING photos.  They seriously turned out so great and it was a super fun photoshoot!  A good photographer is not always easy to come by and she is the REAL deal!!!
